Nesa Capital is a black-owned and managed alternative investment company based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Since our founding in 2013, Nesa Capital has established a strong track record for preserving capital and generating real term financial and social returns for investors in all its managed funds.

We focus on unique alternative investment opportunities in South Africa that create meaningful impact. Our current focus sectors are renewable energy and enterprise development. Aligned with the objectives of our investors, our core strategies are to make an impact, deliver value and drive growth in South Africa.

Our Team

Our executive team is comprised of professionals with experience in originating, structuring and executing investment strategies and transactions.

The team is supported by our non-executive advisory board which brings a wealth of experience and skill in private equity, corporate finance and capital raising as well as impact investing. Corporate social investment

Nesa Capital is committed to supporting individuals less fortunate than ourselves and is proud to be a supporter of Acres of Love, a non-profit organisation established in 1998. Acres of Love provides homes and de facto families for abandoned and special needs children in South Africa. It has over 25 homes in Gauteng and 10 in Western Cape, caring for over approximately 200 children.

Percy Ying

Managing Director
CA(SA), CFA

Percy served his articles at PwC in Johannesburg and London working in the Consumer Markets and financial services division. 

After qualifying as a chartered accountant, upon returning from the UK, Percy took up the position of Group CFO of Acacia Capital Inc., a boutique investment firm based in Johannesburg and New York for 4 years where he headed up group finance and group portfolio management where we oversaw Acacia’s proprietary investment book totalling over R1.5 billion of investments in listed and unlisted securities.

In 2013, he founded Nesa Capital to provide alternative investment products to the capital markets and oversaw the establishment of all of its current investment offerings.

In 2021, Percy also co-founded Nesa Power, an energy services company that provides integrated renewable energy services to the market where he oversees the group’s growth strategies. In 2024, under his leadership, Nesa Power successfully registered one of South Africa’s first VERRA Grouped Projects that allows the group to begin trading carbon credits.

Percy has also served as an independent non-executive director on the board of directors for various JSE listed companies where he has previously chaired various sub-committees, including audit, risk and social and ethics

Israel Skosana II

Israel Skosana II is a South African banker who oversaw one of South Africa’s largest bank’s R6 billion Credit Card Product portfolio and Channels, growing it to R9 billion.

As Head of strategic development & partnerships at Barclays Africa, he concluded deals to the value of R650 million in the public transport sector to implement contactless payment solutions, which was awarded “International Best Bank Card Ticketing Scheme” in 2014.

Israel successfully completed his Masters’ thesis on “Retail payment efficiency in South Africa” with the guidance from the South African Reserve Bank. He is currently the Deputy Chairperson of the Card Payment Clearing House, Member of the Industry Card Strategy Forum at the Payment Association of South Africa and a member of the Interchange Advisory panel at the South African Reserve Bank.

He has extensive experience in retail banking from an operational level as a systems and business analyst, to a strategic level. Israel has experience as a management consultant focusing on business processing outsourcing and contact centres which exposed him to various industries.

Israel currently heads up card services at Standard Bank and is Nesa Capital’s non-executive chairman and chairs the investment committee for its various funds

Kerry colley

Head of Finance &
Company Secretarial

Kerry Colley joined Nesa Capital in 2016 as director of Group finance and company secretary.

Kerry previously worked as the Chief Financial Officer of Amecor Limited, having previously been the company secretary of Amecor as well as being involved in the listing of Amecor in 2004. Kerry also served as company secretary of Infrasors Limited.

Prior to this Kerry, worked for a period of 10 years in the capital markets focusing on IPOs in the food, media, financial services, security and mining sectors where she gained extensive experience in corporate finance, valuations, listings, legal and tax advisory.

Kerry is Nesa Capital’s Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.

dave perrie

Investment Manager

Dave holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Finance and a Master of Commerce in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town (UCT).

He has over 6 years of extensive experience in project finance advisory where, he has successfully navigated the complexities of large scale renewable energy project development for some of the country’s largest mining groups and oil companies and also assisted in raising approximately R100 million in equity and an impressive R250 million in debt through local South African markets. 

Dave is Nesa Capital’s investment manager where is primarily oversees investment execution and post investment monitoring for Nesa Capital’s investments.

Johann Schlebusch

Johann is an investment associate at Nesa Capital, having joined the firm in 2024. 

With a robust background in corporate finance and private debt acquired during his tenure at an investment banking firm in Pretoria, Johann has developed a strong foundation in financial analysis and investment management. 

He holds a BCom Honours degree specializing in Financial Economics and Investment Management, which he completed with distinction in 2021. Currently, Johann is advancing his professional qualifications by pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

His main role in the Nesa Group involves engaging actively in the firm’s Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) initiatives, focusing on sustainable growth for small and medium enterprises (SMMEs), as well as identifying opportunities to expanding Nesa Capital’s solar PV asset portfolio, contributing to the company’s mission of promoting renewable energy solutions.

Johann has a keen interest in the renewable energy sector and is passionate about fostering growth among SMMEs. His commitment to sustainable development aligns with Nesa Capital’s focus on generating both financial returns and positive social impact through its investments

Tyler Scrivens

Tyler joined Nesa Capital in 2024, where he contributes to investment analysis and strategic financial planning. 

With a degree in (BCom) Business Management and experience in the accounting field, he has developed a strong foundation in financial principles and accounting practices, he plays a pivotal role in identifying efficiencies and optimizing financial performance. His analytical skills and attention to detail enable him to assess financial data and trends, making informed decisions that align with the company’s objectives.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Tyler is pursuing the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification, enhancing his expertise in management accounting and financial management. This academic pursuit reflects his commitment to professional development and his aspiration to integrate advanced financial principles into his work at Nesa Capital.
